Naushad Ali: 1919 - 2006 |
06 May'2006.
Dear Anis bhai, Aok.
Naushad sahab was very dear to me as he was not only my Ustad-e-mohtaram he was also my mentor, my guide -- almost like a
father to me. Today I felt as if I have lost my father once again. I had spoken to him just a week back. He was so gracious,
so kind, so loving. He unfolded the information to me saying "Sohail mian aap kay Pakistan may humari Taj Mahal aur Mughal-e-Azam
release ho raheen hain".
Anis bhai could you kindly convey my feelings through your website and through your e-mails to Naushad sahab's fans and my
fans and all those who have known Naushad sahab and our musical works. Could you also inform the appended below message and
feelings to BBC network or website or wherever views and comments regarding Naushad sahab are being collected and disseminated.
"For the rest of the world Naushad sahab was "The Mauseeqar-e-Azam" who had composed memorable, lilting melodies for more
than 60 films. For me Naushad sahab has been a teacher, a guide, a mentor and an spiritual (Roohani) Ustad. I have had the
pleasure of corresponding with him for more than 30 years, several telephonic conversations and discussions and in 1984 I
had the honour of visiting him at his residence in Mumbai where I spent my most cherished moments. This morning when I got
the news I spoke to his grand niece in California and later on with one of his sons-in-law in mumbai where the whole family
was mourning the departure of a legend. Naushad sahab has left hundreds of immortal compositions as a legacy. It is upto us
and the people in the show biz particularly the film Industry of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in particular have to pass
on his mission to the future generations. I am thinking of drawing a plan how to immortalize, preserve and promote his musical
works. May Allah bless his soul and may He give patience and strength to all his family members and to all his fans around
the world. Amen!
Jaanay wale say mulaqat na honay payee dil kee dil main hee rahi, baat na honay payee(Lata Mangeshkar, film Amar, Direction
Mehboob, Lyrics Shakil Badawuni, Music Naushad Ali)".
Anis bhai may Allah also bless you for the service you are doing to the cause of all arts. Thanking you.
Warm regards and blessings.
