Rana Sahab's tributes to contemporary and senior composers.

Sohail Rana pays tributes to Nisar Bazmi and M. Ashraf

Not so long ago, the musical world of the Sub Continent (India and Pakistan) lost music composers Anil Biswas Sahab, Naushad Sahab and O.P. Nayyar Sahab. And now we have lost yet another jewel, music composer, Nisar Bazmi. This is a great blow to our music industry.

Nisar Bazmi Sahab was a contemporary of music wizards of yesteryears such as Khwaja Khursheed Anwar Sahab, Rasheed Attre Sahab, Master Inayat Husain Sahab, C. Ramchandra jee, S.D. Burman jee, Anil Biswas jee….. Nisar Sahab was a senior composer, knowledgeable and hardworking.

His innumerable compositions shall immortalize him for years to come. Compositions such as ‘Ranjish he sahi,’ (Mehdi Hasan), ‘Ho tamanna aur kya,’ ‘Chalo accha hua,’ ‘Kuchh loag root kar bhi,’ (Madam Noor Jehan) ‘Allah he Allah kya karo,’ (Naheed Akhter) and national songs ‘Ye watan tumhara hai,’ by Mehdi Hasan Sahab, are just a few hits that placed him among celebrities of the East.

His style was unique; his compositions were based on our rich classical ragas. His compositions were equally popular among connoisseurs and masses. I have personally known him. He was a God-fearing, religious person. He respected and loved his mother immensely. I was sad and shocked to hear this news. May Allah rest his soul in peace and may He give patience and courage to Nisar Sahab’s family, friends and music lovers all over.

Please join me in my prayers for the composers, poets and singers- all those who are no more with us and who made invaluable contributions to the music world of India and Pakistan in particular.

At this point of time, I would also like to extend my condolences to the bereaved family of one of our contemporary composers, Mr. M. Ashraf, who also passed away quite recently in Lahore. M. Ashraf Sahab was also a hard-working and popular music composer. He worked for countless films and has quite a number of hits to his credit such as ‘Tum he ho mehboob meray…. May Allah also bless his soul, Ameen.

Sohail Rana from Toronto with respects and prayers.
